Exclusive Edition! The Luftwaffe and the RAF were locked in fierce combat in the night skies over Europe throughout the Second World War. Both sides were continually innovating to get the upper hand over their opponents in aircraft design, ground and airborne radar and signals jamming & more. The bulk of this film is taken from an episode of Die Deutsche Wochenschau (The German Weekly Review) news series filmed in January 1944. It features daily life on a Luftwaffe base with cameos showing famous aces including Heinrich Prinz zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, commander of NJ2, with 82 victories. In this Special Edition" I added some supplementary footage from a Luftwaffe documentary High Frequency Warfare ("Hochfrequenz Kriegsführung") showing how night fighters were vectored toward the RAF bomber stream using a sophisticated network. I also added additional information about the fates of the pilots featured in the film.
